Buttercream Frosting

1/2 cup softened butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 to 2 tablespoons milk

In a bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy.  Add vanilla.  Beat in half of the powdered sugar.  Beat in 1 tablespoon of the milk.  Beat in the remaining powdered sugar until smooth.  Beat in enough of the remaining milk to make a frosting of spreading consistency.
